We just finished a Cultural Orientation Course that we were required to take before we can apply to become members of Wycliffe. It was a 2 week course from February 27th to March 9th that was held in Scarborough. Thank you for all your prayers as we took this course. God was really at work in our lives and in all those who were there with us.
We learned so much more than just cultural things. Everyday was a different topic led by a different facilitator. And everyday someone from our group told us their testimony of how they came to know Christ and how God has led them into missions. We spoke our testimonies kind of midway thru which was a new thing for both of us. We both knew that God was working in our lives but had never actually relived it with an audience. It was a beautiful experience for us. After we did our testimony a couple of people prayed for us.
A couple of topics that really interested us were: spiritual warfare, healthcare, cultural shock. There were so many other topics covered as well. Thankfully, we got to take home a binder of information that sums up all that we learned, otherwise we might forget some of it. There was just so much valuable information everyday to take in.
Another thing that we really valued was getting to know different people from different countries, churches and organizations. We had many opportunities to pray and study scripture together, which we thoroughly enjoyed! The Holy Spirit was truly at work unifying all of us and teaching us how to bring Christ to foreign lands!
Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.
